FAQ’s on Microdermabrasion

If you’re looking for a solution to get rid of fine lines, age spots and even stretch marks, microdermabrasion could be the answer to these skin issues. You can have this procedure done by a reputable dermatologist or by a licensed aesthetician at your favorite salon but before booking your appointment, let us answer your basic questions on microdermabrasion:

What is microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion is basically an exfoliation and skin rejuvenation procedure where a small pen-like wand is swiped over the skin while blasting and sucking small crystals to remove the dead skin cells. Removal of the dead tissue brings the healthy under-layer of skin to the surface, promoting healthy cell rejuvenation. It works on all skin types, does not require anesthesia and has a downtime (recovery period) of as little as 24 hours.

How do I know if microdermabrasion is for me?

You should consider getting microdermabrasion if you want to:

  • minimize fine lines and wrinkles
  • reduce age spots and skin discoloration
  • shrink and tighten pores
  • reduce the appearance of stretch marks
  • get rid of acne scars
  • improve the appearance of your skin, making it look younger and smoother

It is recommended that you consult with the professional who would administer the procedure to discuss your goals and expectations.

What should I expect after the procedure?

After the procedure, your skin will appear pinkish and feel dry and tight as if sunburned. This is temporary and usually disappears within 24 hours. You may use moisturizer to counter the effects and avoid direct exposure to sunlight if possible. If you need to be outdoors, use a sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or more.

How often should I get it done?

Base on your goals and skin type, your dermatologist or aesthetician would recommend the number of sessions you would need. If done fairly close together, say 7-10 days apart, your skin will be transformed in as little as 6 treatments.

Is it costly?

The cost of microdermabrasion will vary, depending whether you go to a dermatologist or at a spa, usually starting at $100 per treatment.

At Green Leaf Medi Spa, we offer microdermabrasion packages that are specially priced to be both skin and budget friendly.
